Conservatives

The Conservatives are the ones who report and discuss the issues with cases like Ferguson. They are the ones that appear on the news cycles or that communicate through blogs. They also consist of a political party of politicians that have the ability to hold a position in office. They are able to have an impact on a person’s outlook of the case and of the overall issues in this country that regard African-Americans. Many of the conservatives believe that the media during these cases are a problem, not because they criminalize African-Americans, but rather because they victimize them. They send leaders like Al Sharpton to different places, like Ferguson, causing disruptions in the community. Bill O’Reilly, a news broadcaster on the Fox News show The O’Reilly Factor, makes this argument on his show while discussing the case in Ferguson, Missouri. Bill O’Reilly argues against the liberal media’s portrayal of the Michael Brown case and the situation in Ferguson. O’Reilly argues that "only one side is being presented by the Liberal media". In response to "Racial agitators", O’Reilly makes the point that Facts are not smears. Many believe that these leaders are racial agitators who neglect the facts of a case.  He questions why Civil Rights activists, like Rev. Jesse Jackson and Rev. Al Sharpton, don’t advocate for black lives that are being killed by other black people. As an argument against these agitators, they ask the question of why there is not the same attention placed on black-on-black crime in the black community (O’Reilly). They believe that there is a need for new leadership amongst the black community. Juan Williams, Fox News specialist, explains that there is no progress in addressing the issues within the community because that would interfere with the personal gain of many leaders, like Al Sharpton (qtd. in "Trending with Andrea Tantaros").
